The Apple iPod

The Apple iPod was released to the public in 2001. With its sleek design and clean natural color, it has become very popular since then. The Apple iPod can be purchased in capacities of 20 Gigabytes and 60 Gigabytes. An example of the storage capacity would be that the 20 Gigabyte drive would have a playing time of three hundred and twenty hours at 128 kbps. The iPod can play and store MP3, AIFF, WAVE, and ACC files. The necessary software iTunes can be downloaded from the music player, downloaded online, or from the CD-ROM that accompanies the player. The display is a color LCD monitor which is two inches in width. The accessories included with it are the headphones, USB cable, and the AC adapter. It is easy to setup and configure the Apple iPod.

Using the iPod is easy. After receiving it, the iPod must be charged to capacity for proper use, and this will take approximately 3-4 hours. Next you will have to install the software and connect the machine by Firewire to a Macintosh computer or a USB cable to a personal computer. The Apple iPod can also be connected to the computer using a dock that has to be purchased separately.

The iPod will start adjusting the music that is on your computer, with the music that it currently has. It does this by downloading all the songs you have in the iTunes library. You can also manually download songs to the iPod as well if this is what you prefer. It has a battery that lasts for fifteen hours of continuous playback.

After downloading songs to the Apple iPod, you can take it with you wherever you go. It even has a connector that allows it to attach to your home stereo, or you can connect it to your car stereo and listen to your favorite songs as you drive.

Other perks that can be gotten with the Apple iPod include the three games Parachute, Brick, and Solitaire. If you do not have a personal data assistant or feel it is too much to carry a personal data assistant around with you, you can synchronize your contacts in Microsoft Office with the Apple iPod. This way you will only have one device to carry around with you, but that does the job of two different devices.

The Apple iPod can be used to store voice recording as well using a separately bought microphone, or you can use it to store extra data and photos from your computer.

But a unique feature of the Apple iPod that sets it apart from other electronic music players is that it does not have a power button. Pressing and holding the play button for a few seconds acts as the power feature on the device. Also when Apple created the iPod it made a product in which the batteries cannot be replaced, so you will never have to buy new batteries. The batteries for it are just recharged, saving you this added expense.

Purchasing an Apple iPod is worth the time and investment. Having this handy little device will definitely increase your listening pleasure.
