The iPod Mini

The iPod Mini is a music player that is manufactured by Apple Computers, Inc. After much success with its original iPod, Apple Computers launched this smaller version. It comes with a 4 Gigabyte or a 6 Gigabyte hard drive capacity. The 4 GB drive can hold 1,000 songs, and the 6 GB drive can hold approximately 1,500 songs. One thousand songs are equivalent to approximately 70 hours of songs on a 4 GB hard drive. The iPod Mini also comes with the required software iTunes included on a CD-ROM. It can play MP3 and WAV files, but not WMA files. Your favorite songs can be transferred from your computer via Firewire connectivity or a USB cable. There is also a docking station available that allows users to connect the device to a home stereo.

There is largely a noticeable difference between the iPod and the iPod Mini. First, Apple Computers improved on the design of the iPod by including a scratch resistant aluminum case. Then, they reduced its size.

The Mini measures 3.5 inches in length, 2 inches in width, and 0.5 inches in thickness. Next, the company increased the battery life. The battery of the Mini has a continuous playing time of 18 hours when fully charged.

The design of the iPod Mini is quite unique. It can be bought in one five colors including, silver, pink, green, gold, and blue. Unlike the original iPod, there is no white iPod mini. The iPod Mini has excellent sound quality and comes with headphones. It has a simple 1.67-inch customizable display with a high-resolution backlit screen. In the front of the music player is the click scroll wheel with the Menu, Forward, Backward, and Play/Pause button. On the top of the iPod Shuffle is a switch that can be slid across and is called the Hold switch. Also located on the top of the device is the headphone jack and remote port. A dock connector port is located at the bottom.

Like the iPod Shuffle, the iPod Mini is great for people who run or exercise as it has a white lanyard rope attached to it in which it can be used to hang the iPod from the neck, or you can use one of five different colored armbands to attach it to the wrists.

The unique design of the iPod Mini is that can be synchronized with the iTunes software on your computer and create playlists that you can download. It can also be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook and download your contacts and calendar. Other interesting freebies that are included with the iPod Mini music player are games such as solitaire, Brick, and Parachute, as well as an alarm clock. The alarm clock is handy to use when traveling.

The iPod is indeed a great music player especially with its smaller size and affordability! It can hold many songs and its new click wheel makes it easy to navigate. It is sold in North America for the starting price of $199 for the 4 GB models.
