The iPod is quite a collector's item. Even though it has the same specifications as the original Apple iPod, the case is black in color with a bright red click wheel located front and center. The red click wheel is easy to use when looking for your favorite song or playlist. What makes this special edition music player so special is that on the back of the iPod U2 is the signatures of all the band members of the band U2. The colors of the iPod U2 was designed after the colors of the U2 band's album, "How To Dismantle The Atomic Bomb", which was released 2004, was the number one selling album on the top of the music charts in 35 countries. The album sold over 8 million dollars in sales.

The Irish band U2 was formed in 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. At that time they were high school kids and the band was called Feedback. A year later the band changed their name to Hype. They won their big break in 1978 when they were discovered at a talent competition by CBS records, and where given the opportunity to record their first demo. The band continued to remain unnoticed, until Island Records signed the band in 1983.

Since then the band has had quite a lot of number one songs on the North American and European music charts. The special edition iPod U2 also has twenty minutes of skip protection and can be take anywhere. Like the original iPod, the iPod U2 can be synchronized to your iTunes software and Microsoft Outlook contacts.

In North America, it retails for $329.00. Also included in the price of the iPod is $50 off coupon to be used at the iTunes Music Store towards the purchase of "The Complete U2" album that includes a boxed set of over 400 of the band's songs along with 25 unreleased songs. Another perk that is received when buying this special edition iPod U2 music player, is that it also comes with a free U2 poster of the band. The iPod U2 is definitely worth buying, especially for a U2 fan.
