The Granddaddy of Notebooks-The 17-inch PowerBook

The 17-inch PowerBook is being touted as one of the slimmest, lightest, thinnest notebooks on the planet and with good reason. Weighing it at only 6.9 pounds, it comes packed with an amazing array of tools along with the capability to let you work wireless from practically anywhere. The megawide display is the largest ever in a notebook supporting a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels with 1.3 million pixels appearing on the screen at the same time.

Built-in optical digital audio input and output allows you to connect to decks, digital instruments, receivers and even 5.1 surround sound systems. You can be sure you’ll always receive true, noise-free, crystal clear sound with the transmission of light impulses instead of troublesome electrical signals through optical digital audio transmissions.

AirPort Extreme is built-in to give you the ability to surf everywhere from the local coffeeshop to a bookstore abroad and even an airport lounge. For those times when you aren’t able to get online at a WiFi hot spot, you can take advantage of Bluetooth technology and GRPS connectivity to check email anywhere in the world.

This PowerBook is packed and ready to go wherever you may lead. Even on rough terrain, standard Apple Sudden Motion Sensor will protect your PowerBook and your data. The Sensor actually senses change in axis position and accelerated movement, then responds by immediately parking the hard drive heads so that disks won’t be damaged on impact when it senses a drop or fall. As soon as your PowerBook is level again, the Motion Sensor will automatically unlock the hard drive heads.

The built-in, dual-link DVI support and whopping 128MB of graphics memory gives you the ability to connect to flat-panel displays, CRT or VGA monitor; even a projection system or large-screen TV.

Like all the PowerBooks, the 17-inch PowerBook also comes packed with plenty of features to help you get started quickly and easily. The Mac OS x Tiger comes standard with every PowerBook, providing 200+ features including Spotlight; a tool that allows you to obtain the information you need as quickly as you type and DashBoard; which can help you to find everything from movie times to stock prices.

Rounding out the 15-inch PowerBook package is the the iLife ’05 suite, complete with applications like iMovie HD, iTunes, GarageBand, iPhoto and iDVD. QuickBooks for Mac New User Edition as well as a complete collection of graphics tools such as Zinio Reader, FileMaker Pro Trial, Art Directors Toolkit, OmniGaffle, Graphic Converter and OmniOutliner are also included straight out of the box.
